Lefkada & Meganisi

Lying just off the western Greek coast (and connected to it by a narrow causeway cut by a canal), Lefkada is relatively undeveloped, despite the presence of an international airport. Its port of Nydhri, however, boasts a superb marina and looks out on the private island of Skorpios, owned in the past by the Onassis family. Lefkada’s calm waters and the many anchorages around the island have helped make it the sailing capital of Europe and a popular stopping point for private yachts. Picturesque mountain villages and a scenic, rugged western coastline facing out to sea with some of the finest beaches in the Ionian are among Lefkada’s other principal attractions.  
In addition to Skorprios, there are many other smaller islands near Lefkada, and one of the most attractive is Meganisi. Lying just to the east of Lefkada off Greece’s Ionian coast and served by frequent ferries from Nydhri, the lively capital of Lefkada, the island of Meganisi is an unspoiled Ionian paradise with three traditional villages whose residents live from farming and fishing. Crystal-clear waters, magical scenery, and an unhurried pace of life set Meganisi apart from the more touristed Greek islands.
